Once in a while, I’ll write about a long-established ramen shop. This is the “Aka Noren(赤のれん; Red Curtain)” in Nishiazabu, Tokyo. Founded in 1978, they have a history of 45 years. I’ve eaten it dozens of times already.

Ramen Hot Tip Information

Aka Noren(赤のれん) (10 minutes walk from Tokyo Metro Roppongi Station) The first shop in Tokyo to serve Hakata ramen. Founded 45 years ago. The soup is made with only pork bones, and the shop features flat, thin noodles ordered from Hakata. For lunch, the set menu with rice is popular. The boiled gyoza dumplings are also recommended.

■Hiroshi Osaki (大崎 裕史): Self-proclaimed “The man who has eaten the most ramen in Japan.” As of the end of March 2022, approximately 27,500 bowls of ramen have been consumed.
