2025.05.23 Sapporo Misono(札幌みその) / Third Generation Hakata Daruma(三代目博多だるま)@ Tokyo Ramen Kokugikan Mai (Aqua City Odaiba)

When I go to Odaiba for work, I often stop by Aqua City’s “Tokyo Ramen Kokugikan Mai” or “DiverCity Tokyo Plaza” to eat ramen. In particular, “Tokyo Ramen Kokugikan Mai” is easy to visit because it has six popular ramen shops of national top class. Among the shops that are “Third Generation Hakata Daruma”, “Hirugao”, “Ganja NEXT LEVEL”, “Teuchi Chuka Gyoku”, “Kanazawa Rich Tonkotsu Shinsen”, and “Sapporo Misono”, I went to “Sapporo Misono” and “Third Generation Hakata Daruma” the other day.

“Sapporo Misono(札幌みその)”

Very active at ramen events nationwide. The main shop is in Sapporo, and other locations include Sapporo station, Frespo Megumino, Mitsui Outlet Park Sapporo Kitahiroshima, Lalaport Iwata, Hakata Canal City, Lalaport Aichi Togo, Chapeau Funabashi, and Lalaport Shonan Hiratsuka. This is the only one in Tokyo.
*Lala Terrace Kawaguchi shop opens on May 31st.

They often set up stalls at events with event-specific menus, and at their shops they tend to offer a variety of variations, with a more traditional soup and Sapporo noodles, and a more creative topping.

The menu poster outside the shop is dominated by the 3,500 yen “Luxurious! Lobster Miso Ramen” (limited quantity). The most popular item is the “Seared Pork Fatty Char Siu” (1,520 yen), which has a huge serving of char siu. The “Miso Jiro” (1,300 yen) also has a great visual impact. I casually bought the “Miso Ramen Special” (1,600 yen), but after seeing the 3,500 yen menu, it seemed reasonable to me and I pressed the button.

On second thought, isn’t this the “special” or “all-in-one” at other shops? It feels like it’s been a long time since I’ve eaten miso ramen with corn and butter. When I was in my twenties, I often ate “Dosanko(どさん子)” ramen. At that time, I hadn’t been to Hokkaido yet, so I ate it with corn and butter as a default topping. Now, there are more of them in Sapporo, which has become a tourist destination, but originally there were no toppings of corn or butter (haha).
I enjoyed it and went to the second place.

Hakata Daruma(博多だるま)

This is my third time since it was renovated in 2022. In the past three years, I’ve been to Odaiba the most. They serve “Kusauma Tonkotsu(Smelly and yammy tonkotsu ramen)”, which has been prohibited in shopping centers and collective facilities. Although I’m from Aizu, I also like this type of tonkotsu. The approach is the same as the main shop in Hakata, but the manager seems to have made some adjustments to each shop, and although both are delicious, people who have eaten at both shops are likely to have different opinions. It was ranked third in the famous tonkotsu ramen shop category of Kodansha’s “TRY Ramen Awards.”

Again, it is rare for a shop in a complex to win an award, except at the Ramen Museum. Wontons go well with the foamy tonkotsu ramen, and the egg yolk is a great match. It is a common topping for Saga ramen and Tokushima ramen, but here we recommend the “Tsukimi Ramen(月見ラーメン)” or “Tsukimi Wontonmen(月見ワンタンメン).”
